You’ve heard of the ball drop, for most of us watching at home it marks the start of the New Year, but did you know that our very own Temecula has been hosting a New Year’s Eve event every year? And that they’re dropping grapes? Hey, New York has the ball, the peach is in Atlanta, the orange in Miami, and other places have pickles, tangerines and all kinds of super fun things. The grape symbol makes sense seeing as how Temecula and it’s gorgeous and prestigious array of wineries are a huge highlight of the city.

It’s inventor Melody Brunsting has gotten to watch as her idea has grown from only about 50 people the first year to the thousands expected this year as it continues to grow while residents and visitors alike add it to their holiday traditions.

This free event begins at 6pm on Monday, December 31st, 2018 and is located at The Old Town Civic Center in Old Town Temecula: 41000 Main Street. There will be free kids activities, food vendors, ice skating and live entertainment.

The Entertainment line up is as follows:

Danielle Arribe 6-6:45
Frienz Band 7:00-8:00pm
City Beat Band 8:30-10:00pm
Midnight Ride 10:30pm-12:15am

The first grape drop will be at 9pm (like the east coast ball drop) and is geared toward families. The following and final grape drop is at midnight and tends to be more adult. Afterwards, the nightlife in Old Town is ready to help you continue to ring in the New Year.

With 101.3 radio host, Mama Mia, to emcee the event, it’s sure to be a night to remember and a night you won’t want to miss.
